Drawing within the lines is for babies; making sure things add up is for accountants.

Are my own stories interesting?

That’s the thing that has me in knots every single time I sit down to write or make.

I’m not entitled to an audience nor their applause. I’m not for everyone, and I really don’t want to be. I’d rather be someone’s favourite than everyone’s “Yeah, I guess she’s okay.”

While I like to think that my situation and my life are unique, I would like to think that the feelings about living and working and trying are something to someone other than me. I write to find my people. I work to find my place in the world. I create things so I can know how I feel about what happened or what is happening. If I don’t, then I don’t know how I feel.

The past almost two years have been a time where I didn’t know how I felt about much of anything.

Even when you’re making it up, make it your own.
