“I’m sitting here knowing that school is done in five days, knowing that there is a job interview waiting for me in three days in another town and I’ll have the opportunity to start over again. Again, I’m struck by the similarities to every other time I’ve attempted to start over. This potential city is my second choice, the job is one I’ve never worked in before and would have to learn from scratch, it’s a job based on the skills I have that I like using least, and it’s for the least amount of money I would work for.

Everything about this move is a disappointment. It’s just shy of ideal. It’s miles from perfect. It’s so very typical of my entire life and career up to this point. And I’m doing it because the other choices are staying stuck, being on welfare or being homeless living out of our minivan.”
