“It’s difficult to tell the story when you’re right in the middle of it. You don’t know how it turns out. You don’t know what the moral of the story is. You don’t know the lesson. You only know that it feels like it’s never going to end. You know that the only thing you can do is just keep putting one foot in front of the other because you’re not allowed to curl up in the fetal position under the bed and wait for the end to come. You’re not allowed to do that because you made a promise to a bunch of people that you would try to live your life the best you could.

On the floor under the bed is not the best that you can do, even though you don’t know how the story goes or how it ends.”
